About Utica OH
Nestled in a lush valley surrounded by tree-covered hills and agricultural land, the Village of Utica is home to approximately 2000 residents. Founded in 1810, shortly after Ohio became the 17th state, the village became a center for natural gas production and was the largest producer of glass in the United States until the mid-1900’s. Today, Utica is known for its ice cream with the famous Velvet Ice Cream factory located at the Ye Olde Mill just south of downtown. The village is served by an elected mayor and village council and has well-trained and well-equipped volunteer medical and fire protection services.
This sleepy community is situated close to the cities of Newark, Mount Vernon and Zanesville and the Columbus metropolitan area is a 35-minute drive to the southwest.
