About Columbus OH

Columbus Ohio is a lively and vibrant Midwestern city with something for everyone. Columbus is the state’s capital and was named in honor of Christopher Columbus. The city of Columbus has the largest population of any city in Ohio and is the 15th largest city in the nation. Geographically, Columbus is located in the center of the state and is only a 2.5 hour drive to any of Ohio’s borders.

Columbus is a city rich in history, propelling its way into the future as an attractive, innovative, and business-friendly community. 51% percent of the US population and 35% of the Canadian population are an overnight truck haul or a 1-hour plane flight from Columbus. As a result, Columbus has an increasingly expanding market and a highly educated population resulting in a very low unemployment rate.

Sports and Entertainment

Columbus is home to great sports and entertainment. The Arena District is one of the largest entertainment developments in the Midwest and is home to hockey’s Columbus Blue Jackets, the arena football Columbus Destroyers, and is also the location for many concerts and other productions. The Crew Stadium houses The Columbus Crew, its professional soccer team. Sports fans are also treated to an endless variety of division one collegiate sports at The Ohio State University.  Whether it is Saturday football at the famous horseshoe, the Ohio Stadium, basketball at the Jerome Schottenstein Center, baseball or track and field, Columbus has it all.    

Shopping

Great shopping can be found throughout the Columbus area, whether it be luxury you are looking for or the best deals on beautiful antiques. Downtown Columbus, the Short North, German Village, Grandview, Clintonville and surrounding towns such as Worthington, Westerville, New Albany, Gahanna, Powell and Dublin feature quaint boutiques and other unique shops and restaurants. Easton, Polaris, and Tuttle malls offer world class shopping with a variety of department stores, apparel shops, home décor stores and much more.

Columbus has an average temperature of 51.7 degrees. The area gets on average 39 inches of rain and 27 inches of snow per year. Columbus has an average of 14 days each year with temperatures above 90 degrees and an average of 6 days a year with temperatures below 0 degrees. December is Columbus’ cloudiest month with 31% sunshine. September is the sunniest month with 62% sunshine.
